High Tech Research and Entrepreneurship

Summary: 

Young researchers in technical fields often see a research career solely as a path towards becoming an academic. Fundamental research can, however, can very quickly lead to addressing a real world problems ready to be picked up and taken to the market by the right entrepreneur.

Prof Ian Underwood offers his insights and reflections, as a researcher turned entrepreneur, in a quite informal, personal and even entertaining way. It is primarily aimed at an audience of postgraduates students and post-doctoral researchers and is intended to make them think about career possibilities beyond the research lab.

The IEEE ED/PHO/CAS/SSC Joint Chapter of the South Africa Section would like to invite anyone interested even if you are currently not pursuing a full-time or active research career, to attend this event. Prof Underwood's experience guarantees an insightful event and promises some valuable insights in where opportunity meets research.
